Terms of Service
Effective date: 12 July 2026. These Terms govern your use of Martyn's Law Check and your purchase of the report we provide (a personalised scope, tier and duties report under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025). By using this site or buying a report, you agree to these Terms.
1. What you are buying
Martyn's Law Check sells a one-time report, priced at £29. The report takes the answers you supply about your premises or event and returns a scope verdict, your tier, your itemised duties, a plain-English action checklist, the key dates and the penalty ceilings, based on the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 and the Home Office statutory guidance current on the date shown.
2. The report is information, not legal advice
The report is provided for general informational purposes only. It is an automated scoping tool based on published guidance, not a professional service, and not legal advice. It does not create any solicitor-client or other professional relationship, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer or security adviser reviewing your specific premises, capacity and role. A verdict from the tool is a well-founded starting point to act on, not a legal ruling. You are solely responsible for any decision you make, and for confirming borderline scope or exclusion questions against the Act.
3. The Act is not yet in force
At the effective date of these Terms, Martyn's Law is not yet in force. Commencement is expected around spring 2027 but is not fixed, and the duties are not yet legal obligations. The report reflects the Act and the guidance published to date and is intended to help you prepare, not to imply a duty that is already live. The underlying material can change before commencement.
4. No warranty
The report and this site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law. The tool relies on the Act and the Home Office guidance, which may be updated, and on the answers you provide. We do not warrant that the report is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Martyn's Law Check, its operators and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the site or the report, including any regulatory action, penalty or dispute concerning your premises or event. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the report or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid for the report. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
6. Refunds
Because the report is a digital product delivered immediately, refunds are provided for delivery failure, for example if you paid but did not receive your report, or the report could not be generated for the details you supplied. Email hello@martynslawscope.co.uk and we will re-deliver it or refund your purchase.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: resell, republish or redistribute the report as your own product; scrape, bulk-download or systematically extract content from the site; attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure; or use the site or report for any unlawful purpose. The report is licensed to you for your own personal or internal business use.
8. Intellectual property
The site, its design, its text and the report format are owned by Martyn's Law Check and protected by intellectual-property laws. The Act and the Home Office guidance referenced in the report belong to their respective sources. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the report you purchase for your own purposes.
9. Third-party services
Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services, though we choose them with your privacy in mind (see our Privacy Policy).
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and you agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or related to them. Martyn's Law applies UK-wide, and the report notes the SIA as the UK-wide regulator; this choice of law governs these Terms only.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
