Accessibility Statement
Effective date: 12 July 2026. Martyn's Law Check is committed to making this site usable by the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We want everyone to be able to read the content, run the scope check, understand the report, and complete a purchase.
Our commitment: WCAG 2.1 Level AA
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the internationally recognised standard referenced by the UK's Equality Act 2010 and the public-sector accessibility regulations. We treat conformance as an ongoing effort, and we test against this standard when we change the site.
Measures we take
- A skip-to-content link so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass the navigation.
- Semantic HTML landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer) and a single, logical heading structure on every page. - A visible keyboard focus indicator on every interactive element, so keyboard users can always see where they are.
- Every form field is associated with a text label, and the scope-check options are grouped with accessible fieldset legends.
- Text and interface colour combinations chosen to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and interface components).
- Status is never conveyed by colour alone. The scope-check verdict, the tier labels and the "expected, not yet in force" status carry text, not just a colour or a dot.
- A responsive layout that reflows and remains usable when zoomed or viewed on small screens, with no horizontal scrolling of the page body.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain, for example newly published content before it has been reviewed. We monitor for these and fix them as we find them. If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us so we can address it.
Report an accessibility barrier
If you have difficulty accessing any part of this site, or a suggestion that would improve accessibility for you, email hello@martynslawscope.co.uk with the page address and a description of the problem. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to work with you on a resolution or a usable alternative. If you need the report you purchased in an alternative accessible format, contact us and we will provide it.
